Young Filipinos have always been encouraged to be crafty. There are endless student projects that give points to creativity. Countless events in a school year that make students perform and be artistic. Even now in the age of social media and online presence, we are easily taken by influencers that are out-of-the-box, expressive, and, as we like to say, “mataba ang utak.”
In the spotlight this month, we are thrilled to introduce our featured crafter, Karen Acosta of The Print Library. She’s one of our morning regulars—often among the first to walk in—always on a mission to create something that brings joy to her clients. 💛
“I’m at The Happy Station at least 3x a week. This is where I get all my machines, printers, and consumables.”
Young Entrepreneur
Even at a young age, Karen already knew she was the crafty type. Back in Grade 5, she was already into calligraphy—and even earning from it, doing her classmates’ projects for a fee. “I got paid Php10 per folder or a sandwich and a drink as I will be missing recess finishing their projects 😁 I also did pastel and chalk painting back then.”
Happiness
When asked where she gets her inspiration, her answer just made sense: “In my craft work station, I have the word 'happiness’ on the wall, because the goal is to make people happy with our crafts.”

Karen Acosta exemplifies the joy and impact of creativity in the crafting community. Her journey from a young calligrapher to a flourishing entrepreneur illustrates how handmade crafts can bring happiness to both creators and recipients.
Playing favorites
As with any crafter, she also has her favorite tools and materials. “My favorite are sublimation and vinyls, but I'm hoping to get an xTool this year.”
Advise for aspiring craftpreneurs
When asked to share her words of wisdom for other crafters who're thinking of going into business themselves, Karen has this to say - "Prioritize excellence and consistency. If you do it without excellence, that’s how you will be remembered. There is always another, more passionate brand. Always remember - consistency is opportunity.”
Karen’s commitment to making people happy through her artistry highlights the meaningful connections that crafting can create, reminding us all of the power of creativity in our lives.
Finally, we asked her to share a piece of advice for fellow crafters. Beyond making “happiness” her inspiration, she emphasized one thing: never compromise on quality.
“Your brand will always be remembered by the quality of your products.” ✨
